So what will be popular this year?

?Everyone wants to be a Superhero,? says Amy Seidman from Theatrix Costume House, on King Street in Toronto.

This is no surprise considering the return of the comic book craze, and Hollywood?s obsession with these characters.

From Spiderman to Batman and X-Men to The Incredibles, it?s clear that having a super power is very cool.

And speaking of the big screen, Seidman also notes that fantasy flicks are popular inspirations for the costume-seeking crowd.

?We sell lots of Pirates (Pirates of the Caribbean), Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings costumes as well. And don?t forget Star Wars,? she says.

Other movie characters that are popular include Austin Powers, Fat Bastard, Dumb & Dumber, John Travolta from Saturday Night Fever, and Geishas (Memoirs of a Geisha comes to movie theatres in December).

Then there are the classic icons, that are popular every year. ?There?s always requests for Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, KISS, Madonna, and Playboy Bunnies,? says Seidman.

But if you?re not into mimicking a star or a movie character, she adds that zombies are a good bet, as well as the traditional witches, ghosts and vampires.
